Overview and History
Not long after the time-tested Oregon Death with Dignity Act received its final court victory through the 2006 US Supreme Court ruling, Washington voters approved of their state's Death with Dignity Act in 2008.
State of Washington Statistics
The Washington Department of Heath monitors and enforces compliance with the Washington Death with Dignity Act. The law in Washington State was implemented in March 2009, and Washington's Department of Heath has released its first full year of reporting. According to the report, in 2011, 70 terminally ill patients used the state law to hasten their deaths.
