Automatic Giving–A Win-Win Situation!

Duane Lueders
Duane Lueders

Duane Leuders contributes to the Death with Dignity National Center every month. He lives in Simsberry, Connecticut with his wife of 29 years. Duane's been a practicing attorney for 26 years, and his wife is a licensed clinical social worker.

If there were an organization whose cause you cared deeply about which had an easy, automatic, and affordable way to support them on a regular basis, wouldn't you be interested in signing up?

Well, there is! Under the Death with Dignity National Center Sustaining Partner Program, you can set up automatic, tax-deductible gifts to be charged to your debit or credit card once a month, each quarter, or annually. I've been participating in this program for the past two years.

By signing up to be a Sustaining Partner, you'll save yourself time and money (remember, donations are tax-deductible), and save the Death with Dignity National Center's resources as well. More of your donation will go to directly support their mission rather than to administrative costs. That's right, no more solicitations filling up your mail box, no more checks to write, envelopes to address, or stamps to mess with. That's what I call a win-win situation!

If you're reading this, you probably support them too, and like me, are vehemently opposed to unnecessary suffering. The fact that I'm fortunate enough not to have borne witness to the  protracted death of a terminally ill friend or relative makes me no less committed to the cause. My monthly donation gives me the satisfaction knowing I'm contributing to the welfare of humanity far beyond the limits of whatever I accomplish on any given day with any given person, be it a family member, client, or neighbor.

When, for example, a Death with Dignity law passes in any state, I'll know I helped fellow human beings have more options at the end of their lives so they can choose not to suffer needlessly. I'll have helped the world become a more merciful place, and that gives my life value.

That's why I donate every month.

It's fast, easy, and safe. You can set up your automatically recurring donation one of several ways:

  • Through their secure online donation form.
  • By downloading, completing, and mailing in their printable donation form.
  • Or call DeVida, the Development Manager, at 503-228-4415 (I know she'll be happy to hear from you).

Here's what they'll need to know:

  • Your contact information (name, address, and phone number or email address)
  • Your debit/credit card type, number, and expiration date
  • The amount of your recurring gift
  • The frequency of your gift (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually)
  • When you would like your recurring gift to begin

In just a matter of minutes, you can set up a recurring gift that regularly supports their hard work. And by spreading out your giving into smaller amounts throughout the year, you may even be able to contribute more than you thought.

I know I've found this method of supporting the Death with Dignity National Center easy, convenient, and rewarding. I'm sure you will too.
